Guide to Informed Consent

At Zenska Clinic we firmly believe that an informed patient is an empowered patient. This page explains what Informed Consent is, why it is your right and our duty according to medical regulations in Colombia, and how we apply it in our clinic.

Note: This text is a general explanation. On the day of your procedure, we will sign a specific physical or digital document for the treatment we will perform.

1. What is Informed Consent?

It is a process of open communication between our doctors (Dr. Paula Arias or Dr. Sandra Perea) and you. It is not just a "paper to sign"; it is a conversation where we explain in detail, with clear words and without unnecessary technicalities, what the medical or aesthetic procedure we recommend consists of.

2. What will we always explain to you before any procedure?

So that you can make a free and conscious decision about your body, we will always detail:

  • The objective: What we want to achieve with the treatment and what the real expectations are (without deceptive promises).
  • The procedure: How it is performed, step by step, and what you will feel during the appointment.
  • The risks and possible complications: Every medical procedure, however minor (from an injection to minor surgery), has inherent risks. We will explain which are the most common and what we do to minimize them.
  • Post-treatment care: What you should do when you get home so that the results are optimal and your recovery is safe.
  • Alternatives: If there are other medical or aesthetic options for your case, we will present them to you so that you can decide which one best suits you.

3. Your role and responsibility

The success of our treatments is a team effort. To care for you as you deserve, we ask that you be completely honest when filling out your medical history. It is vital that you tell us if you have allergies, if you take medications, if you have had previous surgeries, or if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.

In addition, it is essential to follow the home care instructions we will give you to the letter. Your commitment is half the result.

4. Your right to say "No"

Signing the consent does not oblige you to undergo the procedure. You can change your mind and revoke your consent at any time before starting the treatment, without this affecting the quality of our future care towards you in any way.

5. Photographs and academic use

Within the consent document, there will be a specific section about photographs. As we explain in our Privacy Policy, taking photos is necessary for your medical history, but you decide whether you authorize us to use them anonymously for scientific publications, medical congresses, or to show our work on social networks. If you mark NO, your decision will be respected 100%.

We are at your disposal to clarify any doubts about these processes during your evaluation consultation.
